Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we learn, work, and connect. But as AI continues to evolve, so do the challenges that come with it.
In 2025, SEAN-CSO brought together civil society organisations across Southeast Asia through SAFER to explore emerging issues around digital hate, online gaming, and extremism. Through webinars, a workshop, and seed grants, participants learned, collaborated, and developed responses to challenges in the digital space.
Now, in 2026, SEAN-CSO is taking the next step with PeaceTech AI Lab.
Building AI for Peace
AI creates new possibilities for peacebuilding, but how we choose to use it matters more than ever.
AI is increasingly being exploited to amplify online hate, misinformation, cybercrime, and violent extremist narratives. This makes it increasingly important to understand how AI can be used responsibly to build safer digital spaces.
PeaceTech AI Lab is a regional fellowship by SEAN-CSO that brings together CSOs and peacebuilders across Southeast Asia to explore how AI can contribute to peace. The program focuses on creating AI-powered solutions, strengthening critical digital skills and cybersecurity awareness, and developing innovations to prevent online hate and strengthen P/CVE.
Along the way, participants will also meet Sean, their AI guide accompanying them throughout the PeaceTech AI Lab journey.
Learn, Collaborate, Innovate
The PeaceTech AI Lab journey brings together three stages: Learn, Collaborate, and Innovate.
The webinar series is open to everyone interested in exploring the intersection of AI and peacebuilding. Peacebuilders, activists, educators, scholars and researchers, youth leaders, tech innovators, and students can explore AI for P/CVE, build practical knowledge, connect across Southeast Asia, and discover new possibilities.
The journey then continues through opportunities exclusively available to selected SEAN-CSO members by invitation.
