[SEAN-CSO 2026 WEBINAR] Fellowship Kick Off: Artificial Intelligence and P/CVE

As artificial intelligence continues to rapidly reshape our digital ecosystems, understanding its role in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE) has become an essential priority for civil society organisations, educators, and peacebuilders.
[SEAN-CSO 2026 WEBINAR] Fellowship Kick Off: Artificial Intelligence and P/CVE

To address these shifting dynamics across Southeast Asia, SEAN-CSO is thrilled to launch the Peacetech AI Lab: a landmark five-part webinar series dedicated to exploring how modern technology, ethical innovation, and creative strategies can be safely harnessed for peacebuilding.

This inaugural fellowship kick-off session sets the foundation for the entire series. By focusing on critical digital literacy, algorithmic mechanics, and constructive peacebuilding approaches, the session aims to equip participants with the insights required to navigate emerging digital trends, foster online resilience, and cultivate safer, more inclusive online communities.

Understanding the Landscape: AI in P/CVE

The intersection of artificial intelligence and peacebuilding offers extraordinary possibilities. From gamified peace education tools to digital early-warning frameworks, peacetech holds immense potential to connect communities and nurture positive narrative spaces. However, applying these tools ethically demands a clear grasp of how digital platforms operate under the hood.

During this foundational session, we will demystify complex technological concepts, examine the mechanics of online visibility, and discuss practical frameworks for fostering social cohesion across diverse online environments.

Core Topics & Learning Outcomes

Key Topics Covered:

  • What Exactly is AI?: A foundational overview covering core definitions, prospects, technological developments, and key ethical challenges.
  • Algorithmic Mechanics: An exploration of how algorithms shape online behaviour, influence user interactions, steer content visibility, and impact community dynamics.

What You Will Gain (Learning Outcomes):

  • Program Roadmap: Gain a complete overview of the full Peacetech AI Lab fellowship series and discover how to engage with upcoming learning tracks.
  • Algorithmic Literacy: Develop a practical understanding of how algorithms and AI systems influence digital interactions, enabling you to design safer, more effective peacebuilding initiatives.
